In this context, the new ranking witnessed a decline for the Egyptian national team, after the "Pharaohs" played 3 matches in the past international agenda and achieved two victories against Angola and South Sudan within the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations finals, in addition to a single friendly defeat against South Africa. The "Pharaohs" maintained third place at the African continent level, while dropping one spot in the global ranking of the team to occupy 25th place with 1585.86 points. In a related development, the Moroccan national team maintained the lead position in Africa, but dropped one spot globally to become seventh, followed by the Senegal national team in third place in Africa and eighteenth globally. On the other hand, the Algerian national team advanced one spot globally, remaining in fourth place in Africa. The FIFA statement indicated that the Rwanda national team was the most advancing in the new ranking, progressing 9 spots at once, while the Guinea-Bissau national team achieved the most points with +35.64 points, whereas the Sierra Leone national team recorded the largest drop in ranks by 8 spots at once, and the Cape Verde national team was the owner of the largest drop in points with -29.39 points. The list of the top ten African national teams in the FIFA ranking for October 2026 includes: Morocco in rank 7 with 1805.34, Senegal in rank 18 with 1648.84, Egypt in rank 25 with 1585.86, Algeria in rank 28 with 1574.77, Ivory Coast in rank 29 with 1569.32, Nigeria in rank 30 with 1567.97, Democratic Republic of the Congo in rank 40 with 1506.37, Cameroon in rank 42 with 1485.30, Mali in rank 47 with 1474.14, and finally South Africa in rank 48 with 1468.88.
