Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi announced on Monday the inclusion of displaced persons and migrants wishing to return to Iraq under the "Watan" initiative. During a meeting with His Beatitude Ignatius Joseph III Yonan, Patriarch of the Syriac Catholic Church in Iraq and worldwide, and his accompanying delegation, discussions focused on the conditions of Christians in Iraq and the region, as well as efforts to facilitate the return of displaced persons and migrants to their original areas, in addition to addressing issues concerning this social component. Al-Zaidi emphasized the government's commitment to creating suitable conditions for the return of all displaced persons and migrants who wish to come back, noting that returnees will be included in the "Watan" initiative, which provides them with residential land plots. He also directed the facilitation of issuing unified national ID cards for Iraqis abroad. In response, the Patriarch praised the Prime Minister and government's efforts in addressing the problems of Iraqis abroad and providing the requirements for the return of displaced persons, praying for security, stability, peace, and love to prevail in Iraq.
