Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi affirmed on Monday the state's commitment to continue protecting Iraq's sovereignty, confining weapons to its security forces, and eradicating sources of corruption. In a post on the 'X' platform, Al-Zaidi recalled "the genocide committed by the terrorist organization ISIS against our Yazidi people and other components of our nation," emphasizing it was "one of the most heinous crimes that shook the conscience of humanity." He added that loyalty to the victims is achieved by realizing justice, uncovering the fate of the kidnapped, caring for survivors, rebuilding Sinjar district, and ensuring the voluntary, safe, and dignified return of displaced persons. Al-Zaidi pointed out that this painful anniversary coincides with the commemoration of Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (PBUH), with its eternal values of opposing injustice and triumphing for truth and peace. He also invoked in this context the sacrifices of the security forces of all branches, supported by brethren, friends, and the international coalition, in achieving victory over the terrorist organization ISIS. He reiterated that the state will remain the guarantor of the rights of all its citizens, and will continue its efforts to consolidate security, stability, development, and justice, ensuring the dignity of all Iraqis and preventing the recurrence of such crimes in the future.
