Arrival of Six Ships Loaded with Rice, Sugar, and Legumes to Support Food Security

The Ministry of Trade announced the arrival of six ships at the ports of Aqaba and Latakia, carrying rice, sugar, and legumes as part of the food ration program. This move aims to strengthen food security and ensure the availability of essential goods for citizens. The General Manager of the Public Company for Food Trading stated that the ships' cargo will be unloaded, with a portion allocated to the food basket and the surplus stored to support strategic reserves. Issues related to the supply of tomato paste have been resolved, and a large stock has been secured to ensure its availability in the markets. Field teams from the Commercial and Financial Control Department, along with the Organized Crime Department and the Ministry of Health, are closely monitoring traders' compliance with price reductions, especially after the removal of customs tariffs on certain goods. To further support families, the ministry plans to distribute nine complete food baskets instead of eight by preparing an additional basket as part of measures aimed at enhancing food security.
