The Baghdad Municipality announced on Thursday the imposition of fines reaching up to one million dinars on citizens who tamper with or violate the newly upgraded roads and streets. The municipality's spokesperson, Adi Al-Jandil, stated that the municipality continues to enforce the law against those who interfere with the recently rehabilitated roads, whether by creating artificial speed bumps, digging up the roads, or defacing them in any form. He pointed out that the fines are based on the amended Decision No. 296 of 2009 issued by the Economic Affairs, with penalties reaching up to one million dinars. Legal procedures cover all forms of violations and defacement affecting main and secondary roads, as well as sidewalks and public squares, especially after development and rehabilitation works have been carried out. He emphasized that fines will be imposed on anyone tampering with these public facilities in any manner, aiming to preserve infrastructure and improve the quality of roads in the capital.
