Baghdad Operations Responds to Citizen Appeals, Closes Polluting Facilities, and Arrests Violators

Baghdad Operations Command announced on Monday the closure of two factories and a landfill site, arresting several violators. This action responds to repeated citizen appeals regarding environmental pollution. Diwani Order Committee No. (241285) continues monitoring and inspecting unlicensed, non-compliant factories, plants, and metal foundries. The committee aims to reduce environmental pollution from gas and odor emissions. In cooperation with the National Security Service, Rusafa Environmental Police, Baghdad Environment Department, and the First Federal Police Division, responding to Bismaya Residential Complex residents' appeals, two unlicensed factories for mastic production and waste shredding/recycling were closed. These measures also included closing the Al-Naba'i landfill for violating regulations and conditions set by the Ministries of Health and Environment. Arrested violators were referred to competent authorities for legal procedures.
