Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region, invited Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, head of Syria's Transitional Phase, to visit Iraq. This invitation was extended during their discussions in Damascus, the Syrian capital, on Monday, as reported by Dilshad Shahab, spokesperson for the Kurdistan Region Presidency. Shahab, speaking to journalists in Damascus, confirmed Barzani's emphasis on the Kurdistan Region's readiness to develop ties with Syria. Al-Jolani expressed pleasure with the visit, valuing the Region's role in recent events, and hoping it would mark a turning point in bilateral relations. He also stated Syria is progressing towards opening a consulate in Erbil, considering this a crucial step in fostering mutual relations.
