Central Bank Confirms Continued Import Financing And Urges Traders To Follow Transfers

Within the framework of ongoing efforts to regulate financial operations and organize local trade movements, the Central Bank of Iraq announced on Tuesday the completion and fulfillment of all money transfer requests dedicated to imports that were delayed or suspended prior to the exchange rate adjustment date of October 7, 2026, provided that these requests meet all approved legal conditions and regulations. In a related context, the Central Bank issued an official and comprehensive call to all traders and companies concerned with these files and requests, urging them to directly review their accredited banks to ensure the full execution and implementation of their external financial transfers. The bank clarified that in the event of any unjustified delay in completing these operations, or if importers face additional financial demands that violate valid rules and regulations, the door remains open for them to submit formal complaints via the electronic complaints platform affiliated exclusively with the Central Bank of Iraq, in order to guarantee taking all necessary deterrent legal and administrative measures against violating banks. Furthermore, the bank emphasized in its official statement its absolute commitment to monitoring the compliance of banking institutions in executing transfers according to official regulatory frameworks, directing a general reassuring message to the community of traders, companies, and citizens confirming the continuity of financing import operations with complete regularity and providing the necessary foreign currency through official banking channels to cover requests meeting the conditions, thereby serving market stability and ensuring the sustainable flow of essential goods.
