The international highway connecting Damascus and Baghdad, near the Al-Tanf area in Syria, experienced a traffic incident involving the collision of two oil tankers, according to preliminary information. Local reports indicated that the tankers belong to Iraqi nationals, and the accident caused material damage to both vehicles, with no human casualties reported to date. This incident took place on a crucial international route that sees active traffic from trucks and fuel transporters. The exact reasons for the collision or additional details surrounding its circumstances remain unknown. Syria has witnessed other recent traffic accidents. Last Saturday, an incident on the Deir ez-Zor - Damascus road, between Al-Sukhna and Palmyra, resulted in 35 fatalities and 30 injuries. Furthermore, a fuel tanker overturned on the Tartus – Homs road on the same day, suspected to be due to excessive speed, leading to fuel spillage on the main road.
