Controversy and Condemnation: Racist Acts by Feyenoord Fans During Barcelona Clash

The Champions League match between Barcelona and Feyenoord at "Camp Nou" witnessed complaints from Barcelona fans about racist insults and gestures from the visiting Dutch team's supporters. Despite Barcelona's decisive 5-1 victory in the opening round, some fans faced a difficult night due to these offensive actions by Feyenoord supporters in the dedicated away section. French content creator Issia, interested in Barcelona and sports, documented part of the incident she experienced with friends via a video posted on "X" (formerly Twitter). The 10-second video shows Feyenoord fans making obscene gestures and mimicking monkey movements towards Issia and her companions, while another supporter made a throat-slitting gesture. Issia commented on the video: "In 2026, to be called a monkey because of a football match... what a shame." The French fan also revealed further details of the events, confirming that some Feyenoord supporters threw various objects at them from the stands. She reported: "We spent the match trying to protect ourselves, as they were throwing beer bottles, cigarettes, and anything that could be used as projectiles." Issia added that what started as mere joking and provocation escalated and worsened as the match progressed. She explained that some fans were vigorously hitting the glass barrier separating the stands before matters developed into racist chants and monkey impersonations, describing the encounter as a "very difficult match."
