Fairuz Appears in Poignant New Photo Shared by Rima Rahbani

Rima Rahbani shared a recent photo of her mother, the iconic artist Fairuz, in a rare, poignant appearance. This image evoked memories of her late son's farewell, coinciding with the first anniversary of Lebanese musician Ziad Rahbani's passing. Posted on Rima's Facebook, Fairuz appeared in black attire and dark glasses, recalling her presence at Ziad Rahbani's funeral over a year ago. Rima captioned the photo with lyrics from "Am Yil'abou El Awlad": "And when you wake from our hands, you run away to play, and every Eid you move far away." She also included an excerpt from a 1967-1968 poem by Ziad Rahbani, addressed to "The Sad Mother." It described the son's bond with his mother, childhood memories, and the tenderness that marked his life. Ziad Rahbani passed away on July 26, 2025, aged 69, after battling illness. His death profoundly shocked Arab artistic and cultural circles, given his extensive musical, intellectual, and artistic legacy spanning decades. Before the family recovered from Ziad's loss, they mourned in January 2026 the death of his younger brother, Hally Rahbani, who faced health and humanitarian challenges away from public view. Born in 1958, Hally Rahbani suffered from intellectual and motor disabilities since childhood. Despite limited medical expectations, his mother, Fairuz, cared for him for approximately 68 years, revealing a deep humanitarian side of her life, far from her fame and artistic career.
