As part of measures to combat online toxicity, FIFA’s Social Media Protection Service identified nearly 240,000 human-verified abusive messages after scanning 17.1 million posts and comments. These hostile interactions affected 812 individuals out of 1,606 monitored players, coaches, and officials, with racism constituting 12% of all discriminatory content. Demonstrating the severity of the phenomenon, the most targeted individual alone received over 10,000 offensive posts. Consequently, the governing body referred 2,905 accounts for investigation and handed 786 cases to law enforcement agencies, while also concealing 9.2 million abusive responses out of 60.7 million monitored across official FIFA and member association channels.
