Finance Ministry Launches First Digital Tax Accounting System

In line with strategic efforts to modernize the financial system and streamline government procedures, the Ministry of Finance officially launched on Saturday its first electronic tax accounting platform dedicated to large taxpayers, enabling them to settle accounts and complete payments remotely. The initiative was unveiled during an inspection visit conducted by Finance Minister Faleh Sari to the General Commission for Taxes, accompanied by several general directors from the ministry. During the tour, the minister inspected workflow mechanisms and operational implementation within the Large Taxpayers Department. The project directly reflects the government program's commitments toward achieving digital transformation and upgrading the efficiency of financial management by simplifying procedures for taxpayers. The newly deployed digital system enables taxpayers to finalize tax accounting procedures and submit payments electronically without visiting the commission’s headquarters. It also facilitates electronic archiving of documents and allows audit and compliance teams to review returns seamlessly, thereby boosting operational performance and safeguarding public funds and state treasury rights. Commending the internal staff for completing this milestone through self-reliant efforts, the minister emphasized that launching this system represents a practical breakthrough in modernizing tax administration, transitioning from paper-based routines to an advanced digital environment that keeps pace with modern revenue collection techniques. He further noted that targeting large taxpayers serves as the foundational first phase of the comprehensive digital transformation project, pointing out that subsequent stages will gradually expand to cover all other taxpayer categories across the country.
