The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Al-Budaiwi, strongly condemned the Iranian attacks targeting two ADNOC tankers belonging to the UAE while they were transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Al-Budaiwi stated in an official declaration that these attacks constitute a "dangerous and unacceptable escalation, and a direct threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation and international trade in one of the world's most vital waterways." He affirmed that such actions contravene the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and relevant Security Council resolutions, including Resolution No. 2817. The Secretary-General emphasized the "Council's categorical rejection of any Iranian attempts to transform this vital international shipping lane into a tool for pressure and intimidation." He urged the international community to "assume its responsibilities and adopt a firm stance to halt these repeated aggressions, ensuring the security and freedom of maritime navigation, in accordance with the principles of international law, the law of the sea, and relevant international resolutions." Al-Budaiwi reiterated the "GCC's full and unwavering solidarity with the United Arab Emirates, and its support for all measures it undertakes to safeguard its security, sovereignty, properties, and interests."
