Gold prices retreated on Friday as investors moved to secure profits, following the metal reaching its highest level in over two months during the previous session. This surge was prompted by inflation data that weakened expectations of the US Federal Reserve raising interest rates in September. Spot gold fell by 0.5%, while US gold futures for December delivery declined by 0.8%. The yellow metal had climbed on Thursday to its highest point since June 5th, before subsequently falling by 1.3%, thereby erasing its weekly gains.
