Iraq and Kuwait today, Friday, issued a joint statement aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and addressing outstanding issues between them. This agreement followed a meeting between Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi and Kuwait's Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, underscoring both fraternal countries' commitment to solidifying bonds of brotherhood, good neighborliness, and mutual interests. In detail, the two sides agreed to form a joint Iraqi-Kuwaiti working group. This team will be tasked with reviewing pending files and developing a clear roadmap for their resolution, with a commitment to submit its joint recommendations to the leaderships of both countries within a period not exceeding thirty days. The team will hold its meetings continuously, alternating between the capital Baghdad and Kuwait City, until all its tasks are completed. Both parties affirmed their full support for the team's work, expressing their aspiration for its successful completion. This initiative is expected to contribute to closing pending files and opening a new phase of constructive cooperation and partnership, serving the interests of both the Iraqi and Kuwaiti peoples.
