In a move reflecting professional commitment to protecting members' rights, the head of the Iraqi Lawyers Syndicate, Ahlam Al-Lami, initiated an official penal complaint before the Karrada Investigation Court targeting the head of the Political Prisoners Foundation. This judicial action came against the backdrop of accusations regarding the deliberate refusal to implement provisions of the law and clear dereliction of public office duties. Details clarified that this complaint arose from continuous and repeated obstruction of lawyers' entry into the foundation's departments and various committees, as well as failing to enable them to exercise their legitimate legal tasks in representing citizens and defending their interests, despite prior official correspondence aimed at facilitating their professional work. Concluding the step, Al-Lami demanded that judicial authorities take all necessary and decisive legal measures regarding the facts and evidence presented in the complaint.
