The Sacred Karbala Criminal Court issued a life sentence against a terrorist affiliated with ISIS, who was proven to have planned an attack targeting pilgrims during the current year 2026. Judicial authorities indicated that the accused promoted the terrorist organization's ideology through social media platforms, and also distributed booklets detailing methods for manufacturing explosive devices and drones, intended for carrying out terrorist operations in the Karbala province. The verdict was based on the provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Law No. 13 of 2005, along with relevant articles from the Penal Code.
