The Martyrs Foundation is currently intensifying its efforts to ensure the inclusion of its beneficiaries in the Million Land Plot Initiative, expected to be launched soon. These endeavors come amidst significant challenges, notably the fact that 130,000 martyr families in the capital Baghdad have not yet received any land plots or housing units, highlighting the urgent scale of the problem. Abdul-Ilah Al-Naeli, the head of the Foundation, explained that numerous material, administrative, and technical obstacles impede martyr families from obtaining their legal rights. He pointed out that the biggest challenge lies in the failure of Baghdad Governorate, the Baghdad Municipality, and the General Directorates of Municipalities to allocate land plots or housing units for the three beneficiary categories: victims of the former regime, families of martyrs who resisted terrorism, and martyrs of the Popular Mobilization Forces. Al-Naeli added that the situation in other governorates is no better than in the capital's departments, as they do not allocate land in good areas for those covered by the Foundation's law. The Foundation has repeatedly demanded the allocation of units within residential complexes under construction, emphasizing the necessity of not procrastinating on this vital issue. This clear negligence deprives the martyr community, which deserves the utmost priority, of its right to housing. To address this reality, the Foundation has commenced coordination with relevant government bodies to allocate a percentage of land to its beneficiaries within the Million Land Plot Initiative, with a particular focus on Baghdad. The initiative, launched by the Prime Minister, has affirmed that deserving categories will receive full priority in the distribution process, which will be supervised by specialized technical committees.
