In efforts to strengthen strategic relations between the two countries, the Iraqi Chief of Staff of the Army, First Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yar Allah, today, Monday, received the new US Chargé d'Affaires to the Republic of Iraq, Ambassador Stephen Fagin, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss aspects of joint cooperation. A statement issued by the Ministry of Defense indicated that the meeting, which took place at the Chief of Staff's office in Baghdad, began with Lieutenant General Yar Allah welcoming Ambassador Fagin and his delegation, wishing him success in his new diplomatic duties. The discussions primarily focused on ways to develop bilateral military relations between Iraq and the United States of America, in addition to addressing several topics of mutual interest. The talks emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and ongoing cooperation to enhance the capabilities of the Iraqi armed forces and contribute to supporting security and stability in the Iraqi arena. For his part, the US Chargé d'Affaires affirmed his country's strong commitment to continuous cooperation and effective coordination with the Iraqi military establishment, stressing that this cooperation aims to achieve the common interests of both friendly nations.
