Ministry of Agriculture Initiates Tariff Review to Stabilize Essential Commodity Prices

The Ministry of Agriculture announced today, Friday, the initiation of a move to review and adjust customs tariffs on goods, aiming to maintain stable prices for essential products in local markets. Technical Undersecretary for the Ministry of Agriculture, Mithaq Abdul Hussein, clarified that customs tariffs are primarily designed to protect local produce. However, current local and regional conditions, combined with existing tariffs, have led to increased input costs for the poultry industry, particularly feed prices. Abdul Hussein added that the Ministry proactively engaged with relevant authorities in the Ministerial Economic Council to amend these tariffs where possible. This action seeks to ensure appropriate and moderate prices for vital agricultural commodities, especially poultry products, eggs, and meat.
