The Ministry of Oil announced today, Monday, that the Iraqi tanker fleet currently consists of six medium and small-sized tankers, with a future plan to purchase large oil tankers. Spokesperson Salim Al-Rikabi explained that there is a move towards signing partnership contracts with specialized and reputable companies in the maritime transport sector to strengthen the fleet's capabilities. Al-Rikabi pointed out that renting tankers from other companies is for purposes of crude oil storage or transportation outside the strait, reflecting multiple strategies to develop Iraq's maritime oil transport sector.
