In its drive to bolster oil reserves and secure the nation's fuel supply, the Ministry of Oil has announced a plan for developing six new exploration blocks, alongside confirming the import of an additional gasoline shipment. The Ministry's spokesperson, Salim Al-Rakabi, told the official newspaper that these exploration blocks include Naft Khana in Diyala, Al-Khulaisiya in Anbar, Zarbatia and Al-Dhafriyah in Wasit, Al-Qarnain in Najaf, plus a sixth block. Al-Rakabi also noted that the Midland Oil Company aims to increase its daily output to 200,000 barrels, up from its current 170,000-175,000 barrels, to cover 90,000 barrels for power stations and 29,000 barrels for refineries. Separately, the Ministry announced importing a new gasoline shipment of 30,000 tons via a contract with Qatar's UCC company. This shipment will be transported overland from Syria's Baniyas port. The Ministry affirmed that the State Organization for Marketing of Oil (SOMO) exclusively manages such contracts to fulfill strategic requirements.
