The National Security Service announced today, Friday, the dismantling of a specialized drug trafficking and promotion network in the capital, Baghdad. The operation resulted in the arrest of six members and the seizure of approximately 3.5 kilograms of marijuana found in a network-affiliated storage facility. Conducted under the direct supervision of the National Security Service head, the operation followed intensive intelligence and field efforts. It began with a tip about a marijuana dealer, which subsequently guided security teams to uncover the network's extensions and its secret storage location. After securing judicial approvals from the specialized judge in Baghdad, the primary suspect was tracked. A meticulously planned ambush led to his arrest, proving crucial for unraveling the network. Investigations then identified its remaining members. Service detachments executed tracking and raid operations, apprehending suspects sequentially. Final leads revealed a marijuana storage facility hidden in an abandoned house, promptly raided, and all stored illicit substances confiscated. All suspects and seized contraband were handed over to competent judicial authorities for further investigation and legal action.
