The chairman of the local organizing committee for the 2027 Asian Cup, Yasser bin Hassan Al-Meshaal, confirmed that Saudi Arabia remains fully prepared to host the continental tournament despite the rescheduling to the end of next year. This follows the Asian Football Confederation's announcement to postpone the finals to the period from December 23, 2027, to January 21, 2028, instead of the original dates from January 7 to February 5, 2027, after consultations with the Saudi Football Federation and the local organizing committee. Al-Meshaal stated in a release on the committee's account on the X platform that preparations to welcome teams and fans had been completed according to approved plans, emphasizing the continuation of efforts with the same momentum until the new date. He added that the rescheduling concerns only the tournament dates, while plans and preparations will proceed in coordination with the AFC and partners to deliver an integrated organizational edition befitting the kingdom's status and the continental championship.
