Ali Nizar Al-Shatri, Director General of Iraq's State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO), confirmed on Sunday that Iraq imports approximately 5 million liters of gasoline daily. This import aims to bridge the gap between local production and increasing consumption to meet market demands. Additional gasoline quantities are currently imported from Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, plus European countries via Syria. Regarding the oil export sector, Al-Shatri noted that day's export capacity reached 4 million and 254 thousand barrels. He clarified the ministry's oil sales strategy relies on tankers entering the Strait of Hormuz, with precision in dealing with companies competing to purchase Iraqi oil. He also explained discounts depend on competition among shipping companies executing contracts during crises; after negotiations, the discount reached $26.5 for medium crude and $28 for heavy crude.
