In light of the rapid security developments witnessed in the region, educational institutions in the Saudi capital have taken urgent precautionary steps, as schools in Riyadh transitioned to the remote learning system starting Sunday, following the deadly attack that targeted the Saudi capital's airport on Saturday, which was attributed to the Houthis in Yemen, according to an official message sent to parents. The electronic message addressed to parents explained that, in line with the directives of the Ministry of Education, all schools in the city of Riyadh will shift to remote learning throughout the current week. This is the second time such preventive measures have been taken in the Saudi capital in less than a month. The missile attack that targeted the passenger terminal at King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, yesterday, Saturday, and attributed to the Houthi group, resulted in the death of at least 12 people and the injury of 309 others with varying wounds, leading to a complete suspension of operational activities and the declaration of a state of maximum health emergency in the city's hospitals to receive the injured and provide them with necessary medical care. The General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia confirmed in an official statement published via the (X) platform that the assault resulted in the death of 12 people, including 4 Saudi citizens and residents holding American, Egyptian, Bangladeshi, Argentine, Syrian, Palestinian, and Sudanese nationalities, in addition to the injury of 309 others with wounds ranging from moderate to critical, including a number of Umrah performers who were present in the area during the attack. On the other hand, the spokesman for the Arab Coalition, Turki al-Maliki, described the attack as a "cowardly terrorist assault that amounts to a war crime," pledging to respond to it "with firmness," while confirming at the same time the fall of another projectile in the vicinity of King King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and the interception of another ballistic missile in Al-Kharj governorate amid the recent escalation.
