Sadr al-Din al-Qabbanji, a Friday preacher in Najaf, urged the government and factions to address the weapons monopoly file with a spirit of affection. Al-Qabbanji welcomed calls for a peaceful resolution, stressing the importance of being guided by the religious authority's vision and the withdrawal of US bases from Iraq for its proper handling. Separately, he called on the government to meet the demands of thousands of peaceful protesters seeking payment of their contractual entitlements. He believes the government can secure these funds from substantial amounts recovered from financial corruption, affirming these sums are ample to cover the dues of those holding contracts with the government.
