The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister, Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, assumed the direct leadership of the National Intelligence Service today, Thursday. The spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief, Sabah Al-Numan, explained that this step was carried out following the Commander-in-Chief's directives during his visit to the intelligence service headquarters, where he took over the leadership role from a lower position, reflecting the current challenges and the sovereignty completion plan. Earlier today, the Prime Minister held a meeting with the leadership and officers of the National Intelligence Service, emphasizing that the agency belongs to all Iraqis and must remain free from partisan, sectarian, or factional quotas. He praised the sacrifices and significant missions accomplished over the past years. He also affirmed his full support for the agency and its personnel, ensuring all necessary resources are provided and working towards advancing it with the latest scientific and technological methods. He stressed the importance of exerting utmost efforts to defend the nation and maintain its security and stability, especially amid regional crises and conflicts that demand intensified security work across all sectors.
