The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that six armed individuals boarded a tanker in the Gulf of Aden, gaining control before diverting its route forcibly towards the Somali coast. Earlier, UKMTO had received a report of an incident 136 nautical miles east of Mukalla, Yemen. The tanker, sailing westward in the Gulf of Aden, had reported an unauthorized boat approaching. UKMTO provided no additional details regarding the identity of the assailants or the specific nature of the incident.
