The Iraqi Embassy in Libya is conducting urgent investigations into the fate of 18 Iraqi migrants suspected of drowning in the Mediterranean Sea, who had entered Libyan territory illegally. Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, the Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy, confirmed today, Saturday, that the case is being followed with utmost urgency and attention. In a statement to the official news agency, Al-Sahhaf explained that coordination efforts are ongoing with Libyan security authorities, specialized health agencies, and the Libyan Red Crescent. These joint endeavors aim to ascertain the migrants' fate and verify reports of their drowning during their attempts at irregular migration from Libya towards the European continent. Al-Sahhaf emphasized that official confirmation of their drowning from specialized Libyan authorities is still pending. The embassy is diligently working to verify all information on this matter with precision and reliability, drawing from its official sources through communication it has been striving to establish for a full month.
