The Council of Ministers, on Tuesday, issued several decisions covering traffic and oil revenue issues. A statement from the Prime Minister's Office reported that the Prime Minister chaired the Council's fifth ordinary session, discussing the general situation in the country and deliberating on agenda items to reach necessary decisions and recommendations. The Council, according to the statement, approved continued depositing of revenues from oil product exports into the Ministry of Finance's designated account for this purpose. Regarding traffic, the Council affirmed relevant authorities must implement Council of Ministers Decision (24213 of 2024) for congestion treatment, and the Director-General of Traffic or authorized person apply Statement No. (5) of 2024. It also stressed coordination among the Ministry of Interior, Ministries of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works, and Transport, plus Baghdad Operations Command, to execute items specified in the Interior Ministry's letter dated May 2, 2026. On the legal front, the Council approved the draft first amendment to the Competition and Anti-Monopoly Law (14 of 2010) and referred it to the Parliament. In foreign relations, the Council approved a draft law ratifying an international agreement between Iraq and Spain for security and crime combat cooperation.
