CAF Decides to Hold Africa Cup of Nations Every Two Years

The African Football Confederation has officially decided to revert to holding the Africa Cup of Nations every two years, reversing a previous plan to stage the tournament every four years. CAF President Patrice Motsepe stated that the decision aims to safeguard the interests of African football, the 54 member associations, and African players competing abroad. He also noted that the proposed African Nations League requires several years to generate the financial resources needed to support and develop football across the continent and ensure financial sustainability. Furthermore, the next edition of the tournament is scheduled for 2027 in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, with subsequent editions planned for 2028, 2031, and 2033, excluding 2030 due to the World Cup taking place that year.
