The Ministry of Interior announced today, Thursday, the arrest of one of the most dangerous criminals involved in armed robbery and theft crimes in the provinces of Baghdad and Dhi Qar. The ministry stated that the Deputy Minister for Intelligence and Federal Investigations supervised the operation, which was based on precise intelligence information about the presence of a high-risk fugitive wanted in several criminal cases. A specialized team was formed, and after investigation and surveillance, the suspect's location was identified. Upon the security forces' arrival, the suspect opened fire on them, prompting the enforcement of engagement rules, resulting in his injury and arrest. The statement indicated that the suspect committed armed robberies at jewelry stores in Dhi Qar and also carried out an armed robbery against the owner of a restaurant chain in Baghdad, injuring him with a gunshot. Legal and judicial procedures were taken against him, and his statements were recorded, in which he openly confessed to the crimes attributed to him.
