Addressing monetary stability, the Central Bank of Iraq offered reassurances regarding its financial position, as Samir Fakhri Nima, Director General of Statistics and Research, confirmed Tuesday that the bank's vaults are abundantly filled with dinars. Speaking at the "MERI 2026" forum in Erbil, he stressed that it cannot be claimed that the central bank lacks domestic currency. Furthermore, Nima highlighted that foreign reserves are in a comfortable position, urging dinar usage to minimize dollar dependency. Regarding exchange rate shifts, he stated that impacts on the poor will be limited since the government subsidizes specific goods, keeping inflation significantly below currency adjustments.
