Baghdad witnessed a serious incident today, Tuesday, as the Civil Defense Directorate announced the extinguishing of a large fire that erupted in a commercial building in the Al-Talibiya area, east of the capital. This structure was found to be in violation of safety requirements, posing a clear risk. Civil Defense teams promptly launched operations, mobilizing efforts to fully control the flames inside the building, a foodstuffs trading facility located on the Rusafa side. These immediate actions crucially contained the fire and prevented its spread to adjacent properties, reducing material damage at the site to a minimum. Importantly, no injuries or human casualties were reported. The Directorate clarified that the involved building lacked safety conditions and approved security requirements, exacerbating risks. Following the incident, the Directorate demanded a comprehensive official investigation and the summoning of a forensic expert to precisely determine the fire's circumstances and exact causes.
