Preliminary data on ship tracking, which became available on Friday, revealed a notable decline in shipping activity through the Strait of Hormuz. Information indicated that only 9 vessels transited the Strait on Thursday, a decrease from 14 ships on the preceding day. These levels fall significantly below the ten-day average of approximately 18 vessels. The data further showed that eight ships departed the Strait, while only one entered. Among the eight departing vessels were a giant gas tanker sailing without cargo and a fully laden very large crude oil tanker. The single vessel that entered was a bulk dry cargo ship. It is worth noting that some vessels may navigate waterways with their transponders switched off, thus not being included in these official statistics.
