The Diwaniyah Police Command announced today, Sunday, the arrest of an individual who shot and injured a citizen following a dispute over the price of a meal. This decisive security measure comes after a swift response by specialized forces aiming to uphold the law and protect individuals. Elaborating on the incident, the police command clarified that the arrest operation was carried out in implementation of directives from the Undersecretary for Police Affairs, and under the direct supervision of Major General Najah Mahmoud Sultan, Commander of Diwaniyah Governorate Police. A force from the Diwaniyah Police Station successfully apprehended an intoxicated person who used a pistol to open fire, resulting in a citizen's injury. The direct catalyst for the incident was a disagreement over the price of a "pacha" meal at a local restaurant. Immediately following the shooting, security agencies swiftly moved to the scene, successfully identifying the suspect, arresting him, and seizing the weapon used in the crime. Necessary legal measures have been taken against the accused, who was detained by the competent investigative judge, pending referral to the judiciary to receive his just punishment in accordance with legal procedures.
