The Ministry of Planning announced a serious government intent to prioritize the electricity sector within the 2027 budget's service and financial allocations. Mohammed Mohsen Al-Sayed, Director General of Regional and Local Development, detailed the government's clear strategy for advancing electricity next year. This plan includes installing modern digital and smart meters in homes to accurately measure citizen energy consumption. Al-Sayed noted these technical and regulatory measures consider social dimensions: ensuring sufficient, affordable electricity for low-income families, while guaranteeing fair fee collection from high-income ones. This fosters equitable distribution and rationalized usage. He reiterated that electricity will be the core of government efforts in the coming years, directly enhancing system stability and boosting supply efficiency across all governorates.
