Erbil Police Enforce Strict Directives to Regulate Social Media Content

The Police Directorate of Erbil Governorate has issued strict directives aimed at prohibiting the use of inappropriate language, insults, and the publication of content that violates public decency on social media platforms. The official spokesperson for the directorate, Karzan Saleh, explained that these measures are part of efforts to preserve the community's traditions and general culture, and to reduce negative phenomena that lead to family and social problems as well as crimes. He pointed out that the directorate will take strict legal actions against violators, especially content creators and live streamers on the TikTok platform. The police have also given all live stream practitioners a 15-day period to visit the directorate's headquarters to open official files and sign legal pledges committing to the instructions and general regulations for using these platforms. The directorate confirmed its ongoing efforts to regulate the use of digital platforms to ensure the protection of public morals, warning that failure to comply will expose account holders to direct legal responsibility.
