The General Command Office of the Armed Forces announced the continuation of intensive efforts to inventory weapons and regulate their possession during October 2026, as part of enhancing security and stability. Saad Ma'an, head of the Public Relations and Government Communication Department at the office, explained that the Permanent National Committee for Weapon Regulation at the Ministry of Interior continued field procedures aimed at organizing weapon possession and keeping them under state control. Ma'an added that the results of these measures last month included the registration of weapons for 38,549 citizens, the seizure of 4,046 various light weapons, and 15,001 rounds of mostly light ammunition, along with the confiscation of 1,198 rockets and bombs, and the discovery of 373 highly explosive materials. He pointed out that the procedures also involved the endorsement of weapons for 2,374 applicants to state departments, mostly pistols, the withdrawal of 237 weapons from civil ministries, mostly rifles, and the seizure of three drones. Ma'an affirmed that these outcomes reflect ongoing efforts to strengthen the rule of law, regulate weapon possession, and consolidate community security, contributing to supporting stability and protecting citizens.
