The spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah Al-Numan, announced on Monday the integration of 4,000 members of the Sinjar Protection Units into the federal security forces. This step is part of the government's agenda and the orders of the Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, aiming to centralize weapons under state control. During the ceremony marking the integration of the Sinjar Protection Units and the Women's Protection Units into the federal security forces, Al-Numan highlighted that Mount Sinjar remained resilient against terrorism thanks to the sacrifices of its people, the blood of martyrs, and the protection units. He added that these forces have now become an integral part of the national security system. He explained that the upcoming phase will shift focus from combat operations to reconstruction and rebuilding the city, which suffered extensive damage. He also noted the continued support from the local government in Nineveh province for Sinjar city. Al-Numan confirmed that the reconstruction file and the integration process will be closely monitored under the supervision of the Commander-in-Chief's office and Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, paving the way for the return of displaced residents. He assured that the entire territory of Sinjar, including Mount Sinjar and the city, will be under the command and protection of the Iraqi army units.
