The Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday the implementation of a comprehensive security exercise and a proactive inspection campaign in the New Baghdad area, east of the capital, as part of its efforts to enhance security and enforce the rule of law. Detailing the campaign, the Ministry's spokesperson, Colonel Mohammed Ali Al-Hassoun, clarified that the Baghdad Rusafa Police Command carried out this operation, with the active participation of various supporting security formations. These efforts primarily aim to search residential homes to detect legal violations, confiscate unlicensed weapons, remove encroachments, and apprehend wanted individuals and those violating residency conditions, thereby ensuring security and stability in the targeted area. The campaign's results revealed several security achievements. Forces apprehended a suspect found in possession of a crystal narcotic substance and a pistol-type firearm. Additionally, two suspects were detained after being found with forged seals. The arrests also included seven individuals who were in violation of residency regulations, and another person found carrying a pistol-type firearm. Following these operations, all apprehended individuals were placed in detention to complete the necessary legal procedures against them.
