The Interior Ministry has confirmed that there will be no extension for the weapon registration deadline set to expire at the end of this year, while reporting the receipt of over 700,000 applications from citizens seeking to register their firearms legally. Major General Mansour Ali Sultan, Director General of the Directorate for Weapon Control and Regulation, stated that the final date to complete the legal possession procedures is by the end of the current year. He emphasized the importance of citizens utilizing the remaining time to finalize their registrations. Despite the absence of precise statistics on unregistered weapons, he noted a growing demand for registration. General Sultan highlighted the ministry's ongoing efforts to monitor the registration process and encourage citizens to complete their paperwork within the specified timeframe. This initiative aims to regulate weapon possession according to established laws, thereby enhancing security and stability. He also stressed the significance of developing and updating national weapon databases to support the work of security agencies and state institutions. Furthermore, he mentioned that the National Information Bank currently holds a comprehensive database on weapons, which will soon be accessible to all security forces and civil service institutions. However, the integration of this database with the national ID system is still under development.
