International warnings regarding climate phenomenon impacts on children globally

Amidst rapid climate changes and their profound impacts on the global environment, the threat posed by harsh natural phenomena stands out, as the United Nations Children's Fund "UNICEF" warned that hundreds of millions of young people will face harsh and severe weather conditions due to the natural climate phenomenon "El Nino". In the details of the anticipated crisis, the international organization explained that more than 347 million children in about 100 countries and territories are expected to face unusually dry or wet conditions during the period extending from October to December 2026 as a result of the repercussions of this phenomenon. Regarding the geographical distribution of impacts, the largest number of children, estimated at 190 million children, will be affected by severe weather in the Asia-Pacific region, while another 41 million children will face harsh and difficult weather conditions in southern and eastern Africa. In addition to this, 22 million children in Europe and Central Asia are also expected to feel the effects of the "El Nino" phenomenon. Reports pointed out that about 1.1 billion children around the world have already faced droughts, severe heatwaves, or devastating floods. According to what was published by the "Los Angeles Times", it is highly likely that the current "El Nino" phenomenon will become the strongest since 1950. It is worth noting that "El Nino" is a natural phenomenon in which the water temperature of the tropical Pacific Ocean rises to abnormal levels, leading to drastic changes in temperature and precipitation patterns, and Brazil is considered one of the most affected regions, as the northern and Amazon regions witness severe droughts and heatwaves, while the southern regions witness heavy rains and massive floods.
