Investment Authority Affirms Stability of Housing Unit Payments Despite Exchange Rate Changes

The Chairman of the National Investment Authority, Adel Al-Yasiri, confirmed that the Prime Minister’s directives emphasize the implementation of qualitative projects that serve the national economy and meet citizens' needs. He clarified that payments for purchasing housing units in investment complexes contracted in Iraqi dinars will not be affected by fluctuations in the dollar exchange rate within the federal budget. Al-Yasiri highlighted the authority’s efforts to enhance service levels and resolve all issues related to citizen services, focusing on projects that provide public benefits and support the economy. He explained that there are two types of contracts for purchasing housing units: one in dollars and the other in Iraqi dinars. The authority has decided to maintain the prices contracted in dinars without any changes and will coordinate with the Prime Minister to proceed with implementing this decision. Regarding the Basmaiya housing project, Al-Yasiri confirmed that all problems related to payment of purchase dues and organizational issues with the Korean company executing the project have been resolved. He added that the company will soon receive the first installment of its dues amounting to $111 million, followed by the second installment after six months, concerning the 30,000 housing units project. The authority has also started preparing a comprehensive investment file for 600,000 housing units in the Basmaiya complex.
