A senior Iranian official informed a news agency yesterday, Wednesday, that Tehran rejected Oman's proposal for shared regional management, deeming it "without any chance of success." The official stated only Iran and Oman hold the right to determine the Strait's arrangements based on their shares, rejecting other nations' involvement. He also noted a 50-50 joint control agreement with the Sultanate would not benefit Iran. Iran, the official stressed, insists on full control over the entire entry path through the Strait of Hormuz and a segment of the exit path. He added that the Strait's southern routes could endanger vessels, asserting Oman's control should be proportional to its waterway share.
