Iran Holds Washington Responsible for Escalation, Calls Radar Strikes a 'Ceasefire Violation'

Iran's Foreign Ministry on Saturday held the United States responsible for the consequences of its actions and any potential escalation, after American forces targeted Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in Qeshm and Goork. The Ministry affirmed in its statement that repeated ceasefire violations, declared on April 8, indicate Washington's unwillingness to de-escalate, emphasizing Tehran's right to self-defense. It described the attack on radar and coastal surveillance facilities in Sirik and Qeshm Island as a "blatant ceasefire violation." These remarks followed the US military's announcement of targeting radar sites in Iran, after downing four Iranian drones Washington claimed threatened civilian maritime navigation. Concurrently, Iran's Revolutionary Guard announced Saturday evening striking US bases in the region with missiles, responding to the American attack on Sirik and Qeshm islands.
