Iraqi Airways announced on Tuesday the resumption of its flights to and from the Islamic Republic of Iran starting next October, with initial departures from Najaf Al-Ashraf International Airport. This step highlights ongoing government efforts to enhance air connectivity and secure transport routes between the two nations. Through intensive efforts, guided by Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi and monitored by Transport Minister Wahab Al-Hasani, a special exception was secured for Iraqi Airways to operate these flights. Company teams are accelerating preparations, finalizing all necessary regulatory and technical requirements for launch once stipulated controls are met. This resumption follows a prolonged suspension of air traffic; Iranian airlines had halted their flights to Iraq since September 23. Iraqi Airways also suspended its Iran flights in early March as a precautionary measure due to military escalation, to protect passenger safety. The company affirmed flights would resume upon completing essential regulatory and technical requirements, ensuring adherence to approved standards.
