The Federal Integrity Commission announced a judicial verdict, issued in the presence of the accused, sentencing Member of Parliament Mohammed Farman Shaher to seven years in prison for his conviction of illicit enrichment. The ruling obliges the convicted individual to return the value of the illicit gains and pay an equivalent financial fine, with the total amount exceeding 28 billion Iraqi dinars, as part of the Commission's ongoing efforts to combat corruption and recover public funds. The Commission detailed that the Central Criminal Court for Combating Corruption delivered its judgment to imprison MP Mohammed Farman Shaher Salman Al-Jubouri for seven years. This decision was based on the provisions of Article (19/second) of the Amended Law of the Integrity Commission and Illicit Enrichment No. (30 of 2011). Shaher has also been ordered to return illicit gains valued at (11,795,949,238) eleven billion Iraqi dinars and (1,729,300) million dollars. Furthermore, a financial fine equivalent to the value of the illicit enrichment was imposed on the convicted individual, in accordance with Article (19/fourth) of the same law. This brings the total sum of restitution and fines to (28,157,250,476) twenty-eight billion Iraqi dinars. In addition, a separate ruling was issued for his strict imprisonment for three years for the crime of concealment, with the more severe of the two penalties to be applied. Concluding the judicial decision, the court affirmed the seizure of all the convicted individual's movable and immovable assets. It also granted the Federal Integrity Commission the right to claim compensation for damages once the verdict acquires its final legal status, thereby ensuring the full recovery of state rights.
